My family loves to downhill ski/snowboard, snowmobile, boat & fish together. We especially like Summer campfires with our friends. I enjoy reading, working on houses, painting & a variety of art projects/medium. Program Overview: The overall Art Program for the 3rd -6th Grade Students will provide introductory lessons that offer learning opportunities that incorporate a variety of media, artistic styles, historical periods, and cultural backgrounds. There are four basic components that provide the overall instructor for student learning: perception, creative expression, historical and cultural heritage, and evaluation. Special Happenings in 3rd Grade Art: During the year, 3rd Grade Students will reflect on several units such as . . . . "What is Art", "Moving through Nature", "People in Action", "Native American Parfleches", "Talking Rocks" & "Creatures & Features". The Third Grade students will explore the use of basic elements in creating art that expresses ideas and feelings and make proper assessment of each individual artwork. Grade Three Art emphasizes learning through inquiry. Students will be introduced to the aspects of the artistic process: ideas generation, problem solving, and self assessment. Special Happenings in 4th Grade Art: The 4th Grade Students will focus on several units such as . . . "Being Creative", "Still Life Compositions", "Totem/Totem Poles", "3D Sculpture/Paper Fish", "Applique/Arpillera Wall Hanging/Stitchery", "Clay Sculptures/ Musical Instruments" & "Portraiture". The Fourth Grade students will use a variety of materials & tools; applying both the elements & principles of design and make proper assessments of their artwork through students journals, stories and checklists. Special Happenings in 5th Grade Art: During the year, 5th Grade Students will reflect on several units such as . . . . "Collage", "Crayon Etchings", "Masks", "Weavings", "Coil Pots" & "Portraiture/Profiles". Grade five students will use their knowledge and skills to synthesize information, allowing them to produce and respond formerly to various works of Art. 5th Grade Students will be able to use and understand the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design as they relate and communicate through artisitic expression. Special Happenings in 6th Grade Art: The 6th Grade Students will focus on several units such as . . . "Being Creative/3D Sculpture", "Line Designs", "Perspective Drwaings", "Slab Vessels", "Art in the Community/Mpls Sculpture Garden", "Portraiture/Celebrity Portraits" & "Fiber Art/Dream Catchers". The Sixth Grade Students will use the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design as a framework, to explore various Art Mediums and apply a variety of expressive and technical properties in their artwork.
